3E Accounting Signs MOU With Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers’ Union – A NTUC Affiliate Union
On 20 September 2019, 3E Accounting officially became the first SME Accounting Firm or “Small and Medium-sized Accounting Practice”, SMP in short, to be unionised in Singapore.
3E Accounting Founder, Lawrence Chai signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Secretary-General of The Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers’ Union David Yeo Cher Lan. The signing was witnessed by National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Assistant Director-General Yeo Guat Kwan. Under the Memorandum, 3E Accounting pledged to encourage all employees to join the union and will pay the union fee for employees who are members of the union.
A More Harmonious Workplace and Strengthening of Tripartite Collaboration
3E Accounting’s decision to accord recognition to the union demonstrates the commitment to work closely with employees and the union to overcome challenges, resolve differences and to build a strong labour management relationship based on mutual trust and respect. The result – a more harmonious workplace and strengthening of tripartite collaboration.
As members of the Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers’ Union, an affiliate union of NTUC, 3E Accounting employees become part of the national labour movement that actively engages the government and employers on tripartite matters, including collective bargaining and other employment related matters.
Unionising the firm aligns closely with 3E Accounting’s “Employees Come First” culture and represents a key milestone in 3E Accounting’s continuous journey to achieve greater employee satisfaction, work life harmony, productivity and employee retention.
We are delighted and privileged to be featured by NTUC, who highlighted the milestone of 3E Accounting embracing unionisation and the labour movement.
